Introduction to Minecraft

Minecraft was a game originally created by Markus "Notch" Persson. In-development versions were first released in 2009, and the full release arrived in 2011. At this point, Jens "Jeb" Bergensten took over from Notch as head of development, and the game is now maintained by Mojang Studios.

There are currently two main versions of Minecraft: Java Edition and Bedrock Edition. Each version has a few significant differences from the other, so you should do some research into them to figure out which one you want to play on. If you like watching video tutorials, make sure you know which ones are for your version to avoid confusion. A good tutorial series for Java Edition is Pixlriffs' "Minecraft Survival Guide" on YouTube.

Minecraft is a sandbox video game where the player can explore a large, randomly generated world. The player can alter the environment as they please by breaking and placing blocks, while fighting off hostile "mobs" and managing their health and hunger bars. The two main modes of Minecraft are Survival and Creative (there is also a mode called Adventure Mode, in which players cannot break blocks but can still interact with buttons and levers, making it ideal for adventure maps).

In Survival Mode, the player must mine blocks and fight hostile mobs to survive. Their inventory starts completely empty, and they must mine blocks and kill animals to collect the tools, weapons, and food needed to survive. In Creative Mode, the player has unlimited access to every kind of block, can fly, and cannot die, allowing them to build amazing creations.

There is also a third game mode called Hardcore (This feature is exclusive to Java Edition!). Usually you will have infinite lives. If you die, you'll just respawn and the world will be the same as when you died. But if you die in Hardcore, it really will be game over. The world will be deleted and all your hard work will be gone. You should save this mode for when you have LOTS of experience playing Minecraft.

Minecraft can be played on a number of different platforms, including computers, Xbox, and tablets. If you are wanting to do a lot of exploring, the computer platforms generate the largest worlds, so they might suit you.

Minecraft is currently one of the most popular video games in the world, with over 140 million people playing it. Hopefully you'll like it to!
