Bee

Bee Nest.

Beehive.

Neutral Mob (Passive on Peaceful Difficulty)
Health Points: 10
Attack Strength: Easy: 2
Normal: 2 (Poison: Up to 7)
Hard: 3 (Poison: Up to 14)

Bees are neutral mobs that spawn with bee nests. Players can also craft a beehive, which will function the same as regular bee nests.

Naturally-generated trees have a chance to generate with a bee nest containing three bees, depending on the biome. Trees in meadows will always generate with a bee nest. If an oak or birch tree is grown by the player within two blocks of any flower, it has a 5% chance of growing with a bee nest containing 1-3 bees. When killed, bees will drop 1-3 experience if they were killed by a player or a tamed wolf. Baby bees will not drop anything.

Bees will leave their nest or hive one by one during the day in search of flowers. When they find one, they will hover around it for around half a minute until they collect its pollen, and will then return to its nest, trailing pollen particles behind it, which will speed up the growth of any crops they land on. All the bees will return to their nest once night falls or if it starts raining. Homeless bees will actively search for a nest that is not already full with 3 bees.

When a pollinated bee re-enters its nest, it will start making honey, which will take about 2 minutes, and when it is done, the honey level in the nest will increase by 1. When the honey level in the nest reaches level 5, it will appear to be dripping honey, and the honey can be collected by using either a bottle or shears on the nest, which will reset the honey level of the nest to 0. Using a bottle will produce a bottle of honey, and using shears will produce 3 honeycomb.

When the player collects honey or honeycomb from a nest, all the bees in the area will become hostile toward the player, and any bees inside the nest will exit the nest to join the fight. To avoid this, a campfire must be placed underneath the hive before any honey or honeycomb is collected.

Hitting a bee or breaking a bee nest will also anger bees. If a nest is broken with a standard tool, it will simply break, and any bees inside the nest will be released and will attack the player, along with any other bees in the area. If a nest is broken with a tool enchanted with the Silk Touch enchantment, the nest can be acquired, and any bees inside it will be contained inside it when it is broken, and will exit the nest as normal when it is replaced. Any bees outside the nest will still attack the player as normal.

Bees attack the player by stinging them, which will deliver a small amount of poison. After stinging the player, the bee will lose its stinger, and will eventually die. If the attack is blocked by a shield, the bee will continue trying until it successfully hits its target. The bee will return to a neutral state if it doesn't hit its target in 25 seconds.

Bees will follow a player holding flowers within a six-block radius, and if two bees are fed flowers by the player, they will enter love mode and breed, and the player will be rewarded with 1-7 experience. Those bees will then not be able to enter love mode again for 5 minutes. It will take 20 minutes for the baby bee to grow into an adult. The growth process can also be sped up by feeding the baby bee flowers.
