Chicken

Passive Mob
Health Points: 4

Chickens are passive mobs commonly found spawning on grass blocks in all Overworld biomes, and in the Nether as chicken jockeys. When killed they will drop 0-2 feathers, 1 raw chicken (cooked chicken if they were killed while on fire), and 1-3 experience if they were killed by a player or a tamed wolf (10 if it was part of a chicken jockey). Chickens that don't spawn as a chicken jockey will lay 1 egg every 5-10 minutes. Baby chickens, when killed, will not drop anything.

When chickens fall, they will flap their wings to slow their descent, making them immune to fall damage. They are attacked by ocelots, foxes, and, on Java Edition, untamed cats.

Chickens will follow a player holding seeds within a six-block radius, and if two chickens are fed seeds by the player, they will enter love mode and breed, and the player will be rewarded with 1-7 experience. Those chickens will then not be able to enter love mode again for 5 minutes. It will take 20 minutes for the baby chicken to grow into an adult. The growth process can also be sped up by feeding the chick seeds.

If an egg is thrown onto the ground by using it, it has a 1/8 chance of spawning a single baby chicken, and a 1 in 256 chance to spawn quadruplets.
