Blazes are hostile mobs that spawn in Nether fortresses, naturally and from blaze spawners. If they were killed by a player, blazes have a chance to drop one blaze rod, and they will also drop 10 experience if they were killed by a player or a tamed wolf.

Blazes are immune to fire and lava damage, and are damaged by snowballs, water, rain, and splash water bottles. They also take extra damage from powder snow.

Blazes attack the player by shooting a salvo of fireballs at them from a distance of up to 48 blocks (Java Edition) or 16 blocks (Bedrock Edition). When a blaze notices a player it will rise into the air and charge up its attack for 3 seconds, which will give it the appearance of being on fire. After charging it will fire a salvo of three fireballs at them, and then wait 5 seconds before attacking again. A blaze's fireballs deal damage upon impact, and also set the target on fire for a short time. If they hit the top surface of a block they will start a fire there. Blazes can also perform a melee attack if they touch their target.
